Performing as the FIFA World Cup™ Philips’ team

Philips had been a sponsor of the FIFA World Cup™ since 1986 – one of the Tournament’s longest sponsors, and for most of that time, their involvement had been restricted to Philips Lighting.

When they acquired the rights to promote their Consumer Electronics and Domestic Appliances products for 2006, they realised that a sponsorship department of one was not enough.

Our challenge was to integrate ourselves within Philips to act as an internal sponsorship department, maximise the leverage of Philips rights, provide strategic counsel, including evaluation of FIFA’s many ancillary opportunities for Partners, and executive manage much of the preparations.
